BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH OF OUR PASTOR:

Elder Billy E. Wright

 

Former President of the Southwest Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventists Headquartered in Dallas, Texas 
 

Elder Billy Earl Wright was born September 20, 1947 in Texarkana, Texas to the parentage of the late Louis and Lorine Wright.
 
He is married to the former Aletha M. Jenkins, RN of Little Rock, Arkansas. At present, they have been married for 45 years. They will celebrate their 46th wedding anniversary, June 28th, 2016. To this union was born three lovely daughters:  Candace, Tammi, and Chaya.

Originator of “UNITED FEDERATIONS" concept within all conferences.
 
Founder of “Family Life Programs” in the Southwest Region Conference. Including workshops on Communication, Conflict Resolution, Anger in the Life of A Christian, How to Cope with Depression, Parent-teen Relationships, Rock and Christian Rock, Singleness – To Be or Not To Be, A Theology of Sex, Self-Esteem - I Am Somebody, Dating and Courtship Techniques, Homosexuality and the Christian, Who’s the Boss In the House?
 
Founder of the “Bible Spelling Bee Program” of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
 
Founder of the “Conference-wide Olympics Program” in Southwest Region Conference of Seventh-day Adventists
 
Founder of the “Annual Youth Awards Banquet” in Southwest Region Conference  of Seventh-day Adventists
 
 

HISTORICAL MILESTONES

September 1967:  One of three African-American students to integrate Southwestern Adventist University (Southwestern Union College) in Keene, Texas

May 1970:  Became the first African-American to graduate from Southwestern Adventist University in Keene, Texas

May 2000:  Became the first African-American graduate of Southwestern Adventist University to become president of a Conference.
